AI Research and Innovations by Middle and High Schoolers

On June 27th, AIClub held our 2021 Student Research Symposium, where K-12 students, parents, teachers, and industry computer scientists gathered to see students from grades 6-10 present research innovations using AI.

Our 2021 Symposium is a celebration of AI innovations by K-12 students. This year, we were proud to have

  • Keynote by Dr. Bharath Ramsundar, an internationally renowned expert in AI for Medicine.

  • Presentations by Middle and High School students on AI in STEM, social good, new apps, and more.

  • Two professional teacher development sessions K-12


Getting started with AI Research before College

In this video we cover

  • Why should K-12 students start research early? We describe how the research process prepares kids for a lifetime of effective learning and problem solving

  • How middle school and high school kids can use AI based innovations to bring their creativity to life, create distinctive accomplishments for college applications, win science fairs and other competitions, become entrepreneurs and more.

Teacher Professional Development

The professional development sessions covered:

  • How AI can be taught in K-12

  • Topics and curriculums for different grade levels (grades 4-12)

  • Alignment with math curriculum

  • Role of coding and computer science

  • Practice exercises for hands-on teacher learning

Both sessions had the same content and were offered at different time slots to accommodate international attendees. Each teacher who completed one of the training sessions received a Professional Development Certificate from AIClub
