AIClub students scored 6 wins at STEM and Science Fair competitions this month with their AI-powered innovations! These innovations show how kids can combine their creativity, imagination and learnings to solve problems in their communities, create innovations in art and literature, and develop technologies for the future. Read all about the winners below.
Smart Recycling with AI and IoT
Shriya's innovation can help communities recycle trash and help their environment. This project combines a deep learning/neural network AI with an IoT hardware platform based on Raspberry Pi to create a simple and powerful device for learning about and sorting trash. Shriya won the Sandpiper Middle School STEM fair and an IEEE Special Award at the San Mateo County STEM Fair.
To Be Shakespeare Or Not To Be Shakespeare: Bringing AI Back In Time
Dylan's project uses AI to analyze the language of comedies written during the time of Shakespeare and determine whether each work was by Shakespeare. With his project, AI takes us back in time and helps us understand whether disputed works of literature were written by Shakespeare or not. Dylan won at the San Carlos STEM fair, the Golden Gate STEM fair, and the San Mateo county STEM fair, and has also qualified for CSEF and Broadcom MASTERS.
Early Detection of Alzheimer's with AI and Multi-Modal Data
Alzheimers is a degenerative disease that affects millions of elderly and has no known cure. Danika's project shows that combining multiple modalities of data (MRIs, brain analysis and clinician notes) can be more effective at detecting Alzheimers early that each modality alone. Danika won an award from the US Marine and Navy Corps at the Synopsys Science Fair.
Congratulations to the winners from everyone at AIClub! It is heartwarming to see you apply your learnings to solve real world problems and change the future. We wish you the best of luck in your continued innovation!
